NEW HAVEN POLICE CONTINUE CRACKDOWN ON RECKLESS DRIVERS
(8/13/2008) NEW HAVEN- At 9:21 p.m. Tuesday, New Haven Police Officers Roy Davis and David Zaweski, while in their vehicle at a stop light, witnessed a man on a motorcycle driving recklessly at the intersection of Farren and Fulton Streets. Davis exited the police cruiser in an attempt to pull over Jimmy Williams, the 29-year-old motorist from East Haven who was operating the motorcycle. Williams slowed down initially. However, when ordered off of his motorcycle, Williams sped off crashing into Davis. Zaweski and Davis engaged in a brief foot pursuit and arrested Williams on Farren.
Williams has been charged with Assault on a Police Officer, Assault in the 2nd Degree, Reckless Driving and Interfering with a Police Officer. Davis sustained scratches and bruises to his left leg but was treated on the scene by an American Medical Response unit. Williams was held on $100,000 bond and was scheduled for arraignment this morning.
